Mightyman Jib Cranes

Mechan's MightyMan range of swing jib cranes suits most applications and can be designed specifically to meet your needs.

Each MightyMan crane can be under or overbraced with a manual or powered slew of up to 360 degrees and has a capacity ranging from 5,000kg to 20,000kg.

Masts are constructed from a steel tubular column, bolted to a mating flange. A slew ring allows rotation of the jib arm, which can be performed manually by using a hand wheel mounted at the base of the column or powered through a motor/gearbox. The motion is transferred through a bevel box and drive shaft to the worm box at the top of the crane that drives the pinion and external gear of the slew ring.

All MightyMan jib cranes can be used in ATEX rated applications, such as marine, offshore and hazardous areas. For example, they can be mounted on liquid propane/butane storage tanks to remove pump units from the tank interior. They are suitable for operation in Zone 1 or 2 ATEX environments, with ambient temperatures of between 0 and +45 degrees celcius.

An electric hoist can be attached to the jib arm. It can be accessed via the optional maintenance platform and operated by a pendant that travels independently on a glide track system. A manual chain block and trolley can also travel along the arm and latch onto the electric hoist.

When lifting operations are complete, the crane must be left in the storage position and locked down. A slew lock pin can be engaged when the arm is correctly orientated to prevent unwanted rotation. This is also accessed from the maintenance platform.

The whole MightyMan range conforms to BS7333:1990 and is covered by Mechan's ISO9001:2008 accreditation. The cranes are supplied with standard or special paint finishes and manual, electric or pneumatic hoists. A global installation service is also available from Mechan.
